Popcorn Fundraiser

Pack 580 Popcorn Fundraiser

Scouting is one of the more inexpensive activities that our boys can participate in. But like all activities, it costs money to function. Nearly all of the activities that we do throughout the year gets paid for through the fundraising that we do. The Trails End popcorn fundraiser is Pack 580's main fundraiser of the year.

Each scout has a fundraising goal. The goal for each scout in Pack 580 for the 2019-2020 year is to raise $300 for the pack (not $300 in popcorn sales. In profit). This amount can be paid a couple different ways:

  • Cash payout - mom and dad can just write a check. This does complete the scouts fundraising obligation, but the scout will not be able to participate in activities the pack has for scouts that met their obligation through fundraising. There are other reasons that we fund raise. Keep reading further to find out.

  • Sell enough popcorn to reach goal - We get 35% of popcorn sales. If you were to only sell popcorn, you would have to sell around $900 worth to hit $300. there is still a faster way.

  • Sell popcorn and collect donations - signing up to booth popcorn is the best choice for fundraising. This way, you can sell popcorn and collect donations. Most people want to help out scouting but they may not necessarily want to buy popcorn. Usually, they will give you a donation which can be used 100% toward your fundraising goal. This makes getting to your $300 much faster and gives you the opportunity to sell more and earn some great incentive. Read on!

Ways to Sell:

  • Boothing (Show and Sells) - This is the most effective way to sell a lot of popcorn and raise money quickly. We've obtained permission from local businesses to set up a sales table. Show and Sells have plenty of products on-hand for people to buy. You will receive an email link to check availability times and sign up to booth. Remember, all donations count 100% toward your goal!

  • Take orders - Take Order Forms will be provided during the Popcorn Kickoff. get pre-orders from friends and relatives and it will be available once the pack gets their order. This is a good way to get a head start on fundraising.

  • Selling at Work - mom and dad are definitely invited to take some to work to sell to co-workers.

  • Selling Online - Trails End now has online sales so your out of state friends and relatives can order. Information on setting up an account will be provided at popcorn kickoff. The Product is shipped directly from Trail’s End to the customer and the Scout and Unit receive credit for the Sale.

How would you like a free week of Scout Day Camp?

Depending on how dedicated you are at fundraising (especially in the first couple weeks), you may be able to raise enough money in popcorn sales and donations to have some or all of summer camp paid for! That's right! Each scout's goal is $300. If you can raise an additional $300 ($600 total), the Pack will pay in full [$165 value] for your scout to go to summer day camp! )If you only can raise an additional $100, the pack will pay for approximately third of camp [$50 value] or raise an extra $200, and the pack will pay for approximately two thirds [$100 value] of camp!). Scout day camp is a full week of fun and earning achievements for the following year. There are arts and crafts, swimming, Archery, BB Gun, Slingshot, and so much more! Camp is a great way to earn achievements before the new scout year begins as well as have an experience the boys will always remember!

* Incentive only good towards summer camp for Tigers-Webelos 1. Webelos 2 can earn credit towards boy scout merchandise or Boy Scout Camp.

** Proof of payment required to get reimbursement toward camp/merchandise. Offer void otherwise.

Another Reason We Sell Popcorn

When our pack sells popcorn, we are not only raising money to pay for our yearly activities, but also helping out the Boy Scouts of America. A third of the popcorn sale also goes to our local Boy Scout Council. They use the money raised to pay for additional popcorn prizes that scouts can earn, local activities throughout the year like Cub Cup and Summer Day camp. The Bill Hart District does some great things for scouting! Helping support them is the the right thing to do!
